The Windmills existence goes back to the early 1700’s, it was in use until the turn of this century. The Windmill is situated on the Old Roman Road (Akeman Street). The Mills original copper roof was removed by the government in 1942 for the war effort, it was never replaced, 50 years of neglect and bad weather took its toll. Despite this the walls being 5ft thickness at the base to 18 inches at the top were unaffected.
The Windmill was fully restored and converted into living accommodation in the late 1990’s.
